The big day. Last night we intended to get to bed early. But we had to speak with family and friends, sorry if I missed to.
We did not sleep too well and the alarm went off at 4:00. We were ready when our taxi arrived spot on at 5:15.
Got airport at 5:50, queued at Internet ticket desk and were soon undergoing security check. Stuart's luggage was searched because of all his electronic bits and toothpaste! No narcotics found.
Now enjoying a cup of coffee having checked that our plane has arrived. Let's hope they are not held up because of the strike.

Our last day at home before our trip begins
We are nearly ready to go now!! Really exciting. We are little concerned because there is a strike tomorrow and the border control people are involved so everything will slow down at the airports. We have spoken to our taxi driver today and he rang the airport and they told him we must expect delays but they do not expect cancellations at manchester. There are cancelled flights at heathrow. We have had a good lunch today so we are on track to have an early night, Stuart is locking the cases up now and taking them downstairs!! Bye for now

PREPARING FOR OUR TRIP
My long leave started on Saturday the 12th November, that was the first day. That day was lovely and sunny so Stuart and I went to the National Trust shop at Biddulph Grange. We managed to do some Christmas shopping.
Sunday the 13th we went to the Remembrance Service at the War Memorial in Congleton, there were lots of people there and it was very moving.
In the evening we had a wonderful time with all my friends from work. We met at The Bulls Head in Handforth, there were 45 of us which included some spouse and children. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and lots of chat and laughter, a night to remember. My friends gave me lots of lovely cards and gifts, I will miss them for the 6 months!!
On the Monday the 14th We went to the Trafford Centre and did some shopping, also had a meal at an Asian restaurant, a taste of things to come!
Since then we have been getting ourselves sorted out for our trip. We did go away for the weekend, we went south and visited my Aunt, who is now in a care home in Bloxham,it was good to see her and settled. We then went to Stuart's Brother Philip and based ourselves near there. On Saturday 19th went spent a very nice long day with Tim and Kim,children, Kathy and Margaret. It was a lot of fun, and good to see them all again. We then returned to the hotel and on the Sunday Stuart's Sister and Brother-in-law were also at Philip's so we had a lovely get together again. We returned home on Monday night and since then we have gradually been packing and getting ourselves sorted.
