Not New Year Yet
We have just come back from a nice walk along a beach path between Mindarie Keys and Quinns Rocks (and back).
In the distant south we could see storm clouds brewing, however, we enjoyed non-stop sunshine.
Tonight we go to have a curry before seeing the new year in.

Perth by Train
Today Angela went to work and David played golf with his friends.
Stuart and I walked to the bus stop and caught the bus and then the train into Perth, it takes about an hour in all.
We had a look around Myers Department store and a few other shops.
We had a really good look around the Museum of Western Australia which we found most interesting. It soon reached the time to get on the train to return home.
David met us at the station and Angela returned home a bit later.
We went down to "The Boat" down the road and had a fish supper.
We finished up the evening at Shari's Parents house for dessert and a fun evening with all the family.
We were very impressed by Perth's transport system. The trains run on time, are very clean and comfortable as well as very smooth and quiet. You can actually hear all the announcements!!!!

Rain!!!
Hot day but a little cloudy. We went to Maddie and Chris's for coffee and cake. They have a nice house with a garden with veg and fruit growing areas. While we were there it actually rained!! It did not last for long but there were clouds around all day, it was very hot though.
After lunch Stuart and I walked up to the local shops and had a really good look around and had a cup of ice coffee before walking back here.
Had a very nice steak supper with a glass of wine.

Freemantle
David took Stuart and I to Fremantle.
We stopped at Wireless Park on the way which was interesting; however, the Museum was closed but we went to the viewing area which was an old radio mast base which had views across the Swan River.
Incidentally it reached 39.9 degrees today, very hot!!!
We then drove on to Point Walter Park, which has a sand spit into the river. It is a lovely spot with a beach ideal for families, lots of trees so plenty of shady areas.
We had a cup of coffee under a very large tree which had cockatoos in it as well as other birds.
Our next port of call was Fremantle.
We parked by the sheds and viewed the Replica of The Endeavour, which we saw being built in Fremantle 13 years ago. It was closed to the public but it was fun seeing it.
We then drove down to the New Maritime Museum where the Australia II yacht is, which won the America's Cup.
The Museum has many interesting displays.
We also saw the Leeuwin II leaving the port and taking passengers out on a evening cruise.
We then started our journey home which takes about an hour along the coast road. The sea breeze had come up but it was still very hot at 35 degrees!!

Kings Park
Angela was working today.
We packed up a picnic and David took us to see the Bell Tower in the city and then onto Kings Park.
There were plenty of cars in the car park but we soon found a cool place to stop.
We found a cafe and had a cup of coffee there and took this picture.
We then walked through the trees and over the bridge to the water garden and had our picnic under the trees
It was all very hot and dry and lovely.
We then walked back to the car, the outside temperature was about 40 degrees!!
Eventually it went down to 35 degrees as we approached the coast.
We had a lovely drive all along the coast back to Mindarie.
Stuart bought some shorts on the way home bargain 10Dollars.
We are now sitting outside with a drink and Angela is cooking a turkey curry!!

Boxing Day
The sun is shinning again, a clear blue sky. All had breakfast again outside, in the shade. Alex and Katherine left us after breakfast.
In the afternoon we went to the cinema to see "Tintin and the secret of the Unicorn". It was good.
We have managed to capture a shot of a sunset taken from David and Angela's front garden.

Christmas Eve
We have had a long day today preparing for tomorrows Christmas meal.
We went out for our meal tonight to a little Thai restaurant, just a short walk away.
The sky was still red over the ocean when we came back home. It is now the evening and Angela is just finishing off dressing the table.
We are getting up early to go to James and Shari's for breakfast and see the kids opening their stockings.
The family are all coming here for lunch and the rest of the day.
A very Happy Christmas to you all!

It is Christmas Eve
It is 31 degrees Celsius out here and the ladies are already preparing the feast for tomorrow.
We had a great evening last night and met family and friends, some of whom we have not seen for over a decade.
Again tomorrow the house will be full and noisy and we plan to Skype the grandchildren in the UK.
That should be interesting with the 8 hour time difference.

At Home with The Westons
Having a great family time with the family at James and Shari's. Their main room has a balcony looking over the ocean. The little boys are running around.
